A New Line in Empire

Though much of the West has withdrawn from empire, one of the world’s rising powers offers the latest twist on imperialism.  

Empire 1.0: Florence Preston drives in the last peg of the Uganda Railway.

What is the use of it, none can conjecture,
What it will carry, there is none can define,
And in spite of George Curzon’s superior lecture,
It is clearly naught but a lunatic line.
