From grey-haired professors to the greenest of family historians, most researchers start their archival journey online. While much remains locked behind paywalls and is difficult to access, historians of Britain can freely consult more historical resources than anyone else in the world and, with a bit of clever searching, most of us can also gain access to many commercial resources. Almost every day some new fragment is posted online.
