Eastnor Castle
Richard Cavendish takes an indepth look into the history of Eastnor Castle.
It is horrifying to think that Eastnor Castle would have been knocked down after the war if its owners could have afforded the cost of demolishing it. lnstead, they eked out a dismal existence in the servants' quarters while rain came through the roof, the massive pile crumbled around them and Eastnor village, which has always provided the domestics, resented the fact that the family could no longer afford staff. Since the 1980s, however, there has come a new lease of life as the present owners have bravely transformed the savage gloom which they inherited into today's stylish and welcoming mansion.
